Evenings al Fresco

Savor the golden hours at the Gardens with socially distanced performances on select Mondays and Wednesdays this summer.

Select Mondays/Wednesdays, June - Aug., 4:30-8:30 p.m.

Awash in the golden light of the evening, this collaborative series enhances the beauty of the Gardens with musical performances, providing respite and renewal in nature. Unlike a traditional concert setting, visitors strolling through the Gardens encounter small, socially distanced ensembles or musicians performing works designed to underscore and bring delight to their evening visit.

Denver Botanic Gardens is proud to partner with Swallow Hill Music to produce this series.

FAQ

Do I need to wear a mask and will performers be wearing masks?

Masks are strongly recommended while outside. While indoors, masks covering mouth and nose are required for adults and children 3 and over, except while eating or drinking. Once you are done eating or drinking, you must immediately put your mask on.

Certain performers will not be wearing masks while performing.

How will social distancing work for performers?

Performers will be spaced at least 20 feet from visitors.

What areas of the Gardens will be open for this evening?

Except for Mordecai Children’s Garden, all outdoor spaces at York Street will be open during the evening. Access to buildings is limited to restrooms and the Freyer – Newman Center galleries only. The galleries close at 7:30 p.m.

Is this a replacement for the Summer Concert Series?

No. This is a series that enhances evening visits at the Gardens, and celebrates the fusion of art, music and nature.

Where and when will the performances take place?

Performances will occur in several locations around the Gardens from 5:30-8:30 p.m.; these locations may vary slightly depending on the performance and the weather. The performers will take staggered breaks throughout the evening, but never all at the same time.

Will there be seating in the performance areas?

No, these performances are meant to be enjoyed as you stroll through the Gardens. Please do not gather around the performers.

May I bring my own chair to watch the performances?

No, visitors cannot sit near the performers or other visitors. These performances are designed to be enjoyed while you stroll past.

Can I buy dinner at the Gardens? Can I bring my own food and drink?

The Hive Garden Bistro will be open until 8 p.m., with in-person and online ordering available. Deck seating is limited.

Visitors can bring any food and drink they like. Seating areas throughout the Gardens are limited, so we recommend packing a picnic blanket. Please note that drinking fountains are not accessible, so please bring your own water or purchase at the Hive.

Will the Shop at the Gardens be open?

Yes, the Shop at the Gardens will be open for in-person shopping, closing at 8 p.m.
