Slow down, step outside and come back to yourself. Root & Reset is a full-day immersive experience in the foothills designed for anyone craving time in nature with a little structure and a lot of space. Come solo or bring a friend. You'll find good company, gentle guidance and plenty of room to move at your own pace. No prior experience with yoga, art or hiking is needed — just a willingness to show up and see what the day brings.

Activities


  • Guided hike along the Beaver Brook Trail with Vanessa “The Nerdy Naturalist” Callahan

  • Catered box lunch (gluten-free and vegan options available)

  • Facilitated artmaking using natural materials

  • Unstructured time for exploration

  • Guided yoga practice



Site details

Genesee is approximately 20 miles west of Denver. The program site sits at 7,400 feet above sea level. The pavilion and private pit toilets are accessible. Please note there is no running water, no electricity, and cell service is limited at the site. The access road and trails are unpaved.

Important information

After registering, you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to a form where we'll collect accessibility needs, lunch order and other details to help us prepare. Registrants are required to complete a waiver for Denver Outdoor Recreation prior to the program. Waiver, full schedule and logistical details will be emailed in advance. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the program site. This program takes place rain or shine.



About Your Facilitators


Vanessa Callahan (she/her) is the Assistant Manager of Learning Engagement and is also known as “The Nerdy Naturalist” on the Gardens’ social media channels. She loves to find playful, relevant and digestible ways to communicate plant science.



Adrienne Bouveron (she/her) is the Gardens’ Learning Engagement Coordinator and an experiential program facilitator who embraces opportunities for individuals and groups to grow through risk-taking and creativity.



Hannah Craft (she/her), Associate Director of Learning Engagement & Interpretation at Denver Botanic Gardens, has spent over 15 years designing experiences that spark curiosity and foster deeper connections to art, nature and one another.
