Creative Basics of Photography: Shooting Session

In this shooting session, take the new skills learned in the Creative Basics of Photography - Classroom Session and put them to use in the field. Participants are provided with a few simple exercises to do out in the Gardens, to hone the skills covered in the classroom. Ask questions and experiment along the way, with the Gardens’ official photographer, Scott Dressel-Martin, as a resource.


Prerequisite: We recommend taking Creative Basics of Photography - Classroom Session prior to joining this class.
Special Instructions: Please bring your camera and tripod for shooting outside in the Gardens and dress appropriately for weather.

Instructor: Scott Dressel-Martin


Scott is a principal at Dressel-Martin MediaWorks, Inc. Scott has photographed around the world, including the Middle East, Mongolia, South Africa, Mexico, Spain, Singapore and all around the United States. Currently based in Denver, Colorado Scott began his career in newspaper photojournalism and has been published internationally. He is the official photographer of Denver Botanic Gardens and also works with a select group of important institutions helping them promote their mission and tell relevant and moving stories. Many of Scott’s clients are in the not-for-profit world such as Denver Botanic Gardens, Children’s Hospital Colorado, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, Denver Health, VISIT Denver. Scott also works with corporate clients such as Level 3, Hensel Phelps Construction Company, Hyatt Hotels and Vail Resorts. Scott is a passionate teacher and speaker on photography and creativity. He has a Master’s from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, New York.
