Arts Ecosystem Tour: Black Cube
Join us for a tour and conversation led by Black Cube Nomadic Art Museum’s Executive Director & Chief Curator Cortney Stell, in conjunction with Black Cube Artist Fellow Matt Barton. Part rainwater drainage system, part recreational space, Community Forms by is an outdoor site-specific art installation designed for a mixed-use community space within Denver’s Globeville neighborhood. Located adjacent to Colorado’s South Platte River, Barton’s sculptural intervention features abstract curvilinear forms that provide a social space for gathering and creative play and also channel stormwater.
Founded in 2015, Black Cube is a nonprofit nomadic museum that produces and presents temporary, site-specific contemporary art outside traditional gallery spaces, emphasizing collaboration and bold ideas. Headquartered in Denver, Black Cube has several permanent projects on view in public spaces throughout Denver and hosts annual exhibitions and programming at the Black Cube Headquarters in Englewood, CO.
This series of Arts Ecosystem Tours explores Denver's vibrant arts scene, bridging the natural and creative worlds while cultivating opportunities for dialogue, connection and inspiration. Led by Hannah Craft, associate director of learning engagement & interpretation and curatorial coordinator Katie Foster, along with Black Cube staff, you’ll be guided through the installation by the artist for a casual, interactive tour.
Following the tour, enjoy a happy hour at adjacent Zero Hour Café with complementary refreshments where you can continue conversations and reflect on the connections between art, nature and environmental stewardship.
