Strolling Stories Programs at Chatfield Farms

Program Overview

Strolling stories combines story time and nature hikes at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms. Each week we venture out around the grounds of Chatfield Farms and investigate nature as it changes with the seasons. Along the trail we stop to read a seasonally themed story and then continue our adventure with an exploration based on the day’s book.

Important information regarding program logistics will be communicated to you by email closer to the date of the program. Please watch for an email from familyprograms@botanicgardens.org in your inbox. If you don’t see an email in your inbox, please check your junk or spam folders.

Tips and Reminders to Help You and Your Child Get the Most Out of the Program

  • Strolling Stories takes place at Chatfield Farms located at 8500 W Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, CO 80128.
  • Strolling Stories is designed to be a program in which the child and caregiver are engaged together while exploring in nature. To help your child get the most out of the program it is important that you help your child listen for activity directions, guide them from one activity to the next and redirect your child when needed. We encourage both adults and children to work together to learn from each other. An adult must be present during the program.
  • At this age children are still learning how to be part of a group setting. If your child is not engaged in an exploration or activity and becomes distracting to others it is ok to take a break from class and explore the nearby garden spaces until your child is ready join the group again.
  • This program takes place entirely outdoors. Please dress you and your child in clothing appropriate for the day’s weather. We recommend dressing in layers, wearing appropriate footwear and bringing a water bottle, hat and sunscreen with you. Weather changes quickly in Colorado. Having mittens, raincoats and umbrellas on hand is also encouraged.
