How to Garden like a Horticulturist
Garden's horticulturist Jenny Miller shares tips and tricks that she's learned over the years, including how to save money and time in the garden and simplify basic gardening tasks. The class includes easy ways to multiply perennials and annuals, pruning methods to keep your garden looking sharp, strategies for dealing with weeds, a list of plants she wouldn't be without and her favorite methods of supporting plants, including directions for making a peony cage out of sticks. She also discusses organic ways to nourish your soil and ways to bring more pollinators and birds into your garden.

Jenny has been a horticulturist at the Gardens since 2014. Jenny manages five gardens, Shady Lane, the Fountain Beds, the Ornamental Grass Garden, the Welcome Garden and the Secret Garden, which she designed in 2018. Jenny refurbished the Ornamental Grass Garden in 2019-2020 and has been renovating Shady Lane since 2024. Jenny's specialties include designing annual beds and mixed borders, designing container plantings for the Gardens and Spring Plant Sale, and weaving willow structures, both living trees and balls, and dried obelisks.
