Session 1:Tree Selection, Planting & Care
Explore how to choose the right tree for your landscape, with a focus on native species and science-based planting techniques. Learn how to avoid common urban tree problems caused by poor planting practices and discover top recommendations for Front Range landscapes.
Session 2:Tree Identification
Discover the importance of native trees in our ecoregion and learn how to identify them using taxonomic terminology and tools. Practice tree ID in class guided practicum, then head outdoors to apply your skills on a live specimen. Get familiar with the best resources for identifying Colorado trees.

Patti O'Neal is a horticulturist with a background in nutrition. She is a retired CSU Extension Agent, where she served for 15 years. This is her 23rd year teaching with Denver Botanic Gardens where she continues to inspire gardeners—seasoned and new—across the Front Range.
