Library General Collection & Periodicals
Our General Collection includes non-fiction and fiction adult books, children’s books, DVDs and videos on various gardening, botanical and horticultural related topics. Most materials check out for three weeks to members.
Our collection of periodicals covers subjects of interest to the academic researcher and general gardener. This collection is not available for checkout. Current and back issues are available for use in the Library.
The rare books collection includes early European herbals, publications of initial botanical study in the New World and of exploration into the trans-Mississippi West, and many other unique works related to the study of botany and gardening, both regional and across the world. The Library also houses a distinct collection of rare books on loan to the Gardens.
The archival collection contains materials related to the history, founding and development of the Gardens as well as other historical botanical and horticultural collections. Collections include:
- Correspondence and blueprints
- Newspaper articles and scrapbooks
- Photographs and slides
- Botanical postage stamps
- Nursery and seed catalogs
Special Collections are not available for checkout. They are available for research by appointment only.
