Yoga Nidra at the Gardens

Yoga Nidra, also known as "cosmic sleep," is a form of guided meditation that aims to induce a state of deep relaxation and inner peace. This non-doing practice uses tools and exercises to relax the physical body and engage the subtle body. Therapeutic benefits can include stress reduction, increased clarity/focus and improved sleep. Each month focuses on a new theme that connects to the nature and season of the gardens, as well as your inner landscape. This hour-long class begins with a brief introduction of Yoga Nidra, followed by a few simple and gentle movement exercises. Assume a comfortable and supported position (generally lying on your back). No prior experience of yoga or meditation is needed. All skill levels are welcome.

May: Lily of the Valley - Spring Renewal

This session invites you to press the reset button, take a breath and observe. Lily of the valley represents return and restoration. In honor of this May flower, this practice incorporates a few restorative yoga postures to help support the nervous system. This is spring renewal and you are invited.

June: Rose - Summer Solstice

In honor of the summer solstice, let's hold gratitude for the abundance of inner and outer landscapes. In Eastern cultures, roses can symbolize a harmonious balance between yin and yang. This session includes some gentle, standing movement before we soften to the support of the earth, holding both yin and yang energies.

July: Lavender - Connect with Nature

The scent of lavender brings comfort and reminds us to look inward. In honor of Lavender Festival at Chatfield Farms, this session invites you to surrender and soften to the summer heat while restoring physical and mental well-being. Now is the time to listen, connect, breathe and rest.

August - NIDRA NATURE EDITION: Poppy - New Moon Intentions

Outdoor Session

New moon intentions are goals and desires set during the new moon phase to manifest fresh beginnings. The poppy symbolizes peace, sleep and resilience. This session embraces the natural elements surrounding us and guides us in creating an intention. Class begins with an earthing meditation, leading into soft, spacious movement and time to create a Sankalpa/intention. Participants are guided through rest in "cosmic sleep" for up to 30 minutes, where their Sankalpa is "seeded" in the mind.

September - NIDRA NATURE EDITION: Morning Glory - Staying Grounded

Outdoor Session

Autumn is traditionally a time of transitions and change, and the morning glory symbolizes new beginnings. Recognizing this symbiotic relationship, this session centers creating a grounding container for participants, while embracing new beginnings; one inhale and exhale at a time. This is a perfect "mini reset" to carry you through the transitions of fall. Class begins with a letting go and space clearing meditation, followed by gentle, flowing movement and time to call in an intention (Sankalpa). Participants are guided through rest in "cosmic sleep" for up to 30 minutes, where their Sankalpa is "seeded" in the mind.

November: Chrysanthemum - Gratitude and Reflection

As 2026 comes to a close, you are invited to step into the seat of the witness. This session honors the journey of the past year and provides space to set an intention for the holiday season and beyond. Share your presence and be in community. Please bring a journal and a pen.

Special Instructions: Students are asked to bring a yoga mat, blanket and pillow. Layers, socks and eye covering are also recommended as your body will cool down during practice.
