Guided Homeschool Exploration at Plains Conservation Center: Creepy Crawlers of the Prairie

The prairie is home to many small animals that crawl, slither, and burrow beneath the grasses. In this guided exploration, students will investigate some of the prairie’s most misunderstood creatures, including spiders, insects, and snakes.
Participants will examine biofacts and specimens to learn how these animals are adapted to life on the shortgrass prairie and why they are important to the ecosystem. Through observation and hands-on activities, students will discover how these creatures move, survive, and help keep the prairie in balance.
