Girl Scouts at Plains Conservation Center: The Wild Side of the Prairie

The prairie has a wild side. From slithering snakes to busy spiders and underground critters, many animals that people find creepy are actually essential to prairie life. In this interactive scout program, participants investigate these animals and learn why they are important to the ecosystem.

Scouts explore animal skeletons and biofacts, learn about prairie adaptations and discover how these creatures hunt, hide and survive in the grasslands, giving scouts the chance to observe these animals while building confidence and curiosity about wildlife that is often misunderstood.
