Pi(e) Party

Math in Bloom presents Pi Day & A Pie Party

March 14, 2026

2 - 4 p.m.

Price: Free with registration.

Join us for a Pi(e) Party in the Orangery from 2-4 p.m. at York Street, where you'll enjoy complimentary fruit pies and pizza pies (gluten-free and vegan options available) alongside local mathematicians and Gardens educators. This casual gathering offers a unique opportunity to connect with fellow math enthusiasts and learn about the surprising mathematical patterns found throughout the natural world—all while indulging in delicious treats.

Participate in a "Plant Your Own Pi Pot" activity that brings together math and nature in a fun, hands-on way, creating a living reminder of the day's mathematical explorations.

While designed with adults in mind, visitors of all ages are welcome to celebrate this special day where mathematics, food and botany come together. This free event requires registration.

More about Math in Bloom Pi Day:

Join us to explore where mathematics meets nature in unexpected and delightful ways. Math in Bloom at Denver Botanic Gardens invites visitors of all ages to discover the hidden mathematical patterns in nature, from Fibonacci spirals in sunflowers to the golden ratio in leaf arrangements. Made possible through generous support from Simons Foundation and in collaboration with botanic gardens across the country and mathematicians from local universities, these special days feature mathematician-led tours, free activities and paid workshops. While many activities are designed with adults in mind, families will find engaging experiences that bring math to life through the beauty of art, architecture and nature.

Register for a Math in Bloom tour:

  • 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Explore the gardens or galleries on a guided tour by a local mathematician

Or just swing by for a free (and fun – promise!) math activity:

  • 3:14 p.m. Join the Pi recitation surrounded by circular patterns in the Herb Garden

  • 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Make “Tree Ring Prints” in Boettcher Memorial Lobby with the School of Botanical Art & Illustration
