Curb Appeal - Beds that Pop

You don't have to be a plant mixologist to dress up beds in front of your home. Jenny will explore the concept of curb appeal and share planting strategies and plant combinations for different styles and colors of homes and conditions. She'll also talk about classic bed configurations (from narrow foundation beds and wing beds to hell strips along streets) and explore what you need to know about your site before you get started, including the location of hardscape, the dimensions of beds, the quality of soil, sun and wind exposure, irrigation needs and obstacles, such as utilities and roots.

Jenny has been a horticulturist at the Gardens since 2014. Jenny manages five gardens, Shady Lane, the Fountain Beds, the Ornamental Grass Garden, the Welcome Garden and the Secret Garden, which she designed in 2018. Jenny refurbished the Ornamental Grass Garden in 2019-2020 and has been renovating Shady Lane since 2024. Jenny's specialties include designing annual beds and mixed borders, designing container plantings for the Gardens and Spring Plant Sale, and weaving willow structures, both living trees and balls, and dried obelisks.
