Ghosts in the Gardens - Open Air Scare

Denver Botanic Gardens dares you to join us after dark for the spine-tingling stories of our haunted history.

Oct. 13-15 & 26-29, 5:30-10:30 p.m.

Stroll through the dark paths at your own pace as the storytellers share real staff encounters, security guard accounts and the intriguing history of the place that was formerly known as "The Boneyard." If you are feeling bold, we invite you inside the Waring House for an exclusive visit of the Beaux-Arts style mansion and the secrets it might hold.

Conjure your courage and capture your fear as you walk our dimly lit paths after hours and dare to have your own ghostly encounter, here at Denver Botanic Gardens.

This tour is self-guided, and you may visit the storytellers in any order you would like. The tour should take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Storytellers will begin new stories every quarter-hour.

  • Children 12+ years old are welcome and are the responsibility of their parents at all times. This tour is not recommended for younger children.

  • Timed tickets must be purchased in advance; tickets are limited in each time slot. Tickets will not be available onsite.

  • Halloween masks and costumes are not permitted on the premises.

FAQ

How long do the tours take?

The tours take about approximately 1.5 hours.

What should I wear?

Since most of the tour takes place outside, dress appropriately for the weather.

Will I get to go inside Waring House?

Yes, the main floor of Waring House will be included in this year’s tours. Due to its historical nature, the Waring House is not wheelchair accessible.

Will I be with the same group all night?

No, these tours are self-guided so you can go at your own pace and visit the locations in any order you choose.

How will I know when the stories begin?

The storytellers will start new stories at all locations every 15 minutes, on the quarter-hour.

Am I allowed to record the experience?

While we encourage guests to take photos throughout the night, NO RECORDING is permitted, even for investigative purposes.

Are the tours ADA accessible?

For the most part, yes. However, due to the historical nature of Waring House, it is not wheelchair accessible.

Will the tours be cancelled for weather?

In the event of inclement weather, please call the Weather Advisory Line at 720-865-3620 for information on program cancellations.
