Personal Statement

My research interests include understanding how populations of plants establish, persist and adapt in changing environments. I am interested in the importance of genetic diversity on ecological and evolutionary mechanisms that affect species conservation and ecological restoration. In my current projects I aim to combine field experiments with demographic modeling, population genomics and quantitative genetics to study the roles of local adaptation and evolutionary potential in restoration outcomes. Ultimately, this research is designed to help improve the success of active restoration in disturbed or degraded habitats using native plant species.
