Homeschool Science Supplement at Plains Conservation Center: Geology

Join us on the prairie to explore different types of rocks and minerals and how they are formed. Through hands-on activities, students will learn about and act out the rock cycle and compare a variety of rock samples by examining their characteristics. Learn how crystals grow and how that crystalline structure is an underlying feature of minerals. Explore various minerals and learn how to test their properties to help you identify them. We will contrast minerals and rocks, discover how geodes are formed and students will get to crack open a geode to take home.
