Earth Day Celebration

Both York Street and Chatfield Farms highlight programs and activities for all ages.

Sunday, April 21, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than at Denver Botanic Gardens? Join us to be inspired by the natural world and learn new ways to support the health of your neighborhood’s flora and fauna and steward our planet’s health.

Monday, April 22 is Earth Day and an SCFD free day at York Street and Chatfield Farms, however the activities below will take place on Sunday, April 21 only and are included with admission.

 

York Street

  • Wander the gardens and get inspired by the natural world and connect with plants, especially plants of the Rocky Mountain region
  • Drop in on free tours every hour with an experienced guide
  • Learn more about vermicomposting from worm whizzes
  • Join a Science Chat about fruit and seed dispersal in the Science Pyramid and Oak Grove
  • Enjoy live music in the Freyer – Newman Center galleries
  • Learn more about the importance of our plant library in the Kathryn Kalmbach Herbaria of Vascular Plants
  • Try a recycled papermaking art activity with the School of Botanical Art & Illustration
  • Join a family-friendly seed planting activity

Chatfield Farms

  • Wander the gardens and get inspired by the natural world and connect with plants, especially plants of the Rocky Mountain region
  • Drop in on free tours every hour with an experienced guide
  • Get information and education from community partners
  • Learn about the research, conservation and restoration projects along Deer Creek
  • Try some art-making activities for the whole family
  • Join demonstrations by Rocky Mountain Weaver’s Guild in the Janice Ford Memorial Dye Garden
  • Take a tractor ride and guided hike
