Salvador Dalí: Gardens of the Mind Tours

Docent-led Tour

Join us on a docent-led tour to learn about fun facts, hidden details and gain surprising insight into this exhibition. Salvador Dalí: Gardens of the Mind features FlorDalí and Surrealist Flowers, two rarely seen series of fanciful color lithographs of flowers and fruits on loan from The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, FL.

Mixing flora with his signature Surrealist motifs, DalÍ invents an array of new species: Lilium musicum stems sprout vinyl records and sheet music; Pisum sensuale is a compilation of blossoms, lips and fingertips with painted nails; and Panseé (Viola cogitans) is a self-portrait with pansy eyes, mouth and a mustache. True to Surrealist principles, the artworks unsettle what we know about reality by juxtaposing incongruent elements.
