Private Homeschool Exploration at PCC: Choose your own adventure

Choose from 1 of the following 3 options to customize your experience and focus on the topic that you and your children are most interested in exploring. After registration, your instructor will contact you to coordinate your chosen topic. All programs include a short hike or nature walk, educational activities, and a craft that you can take home. Programs last approximately 60 minutes and are limited to up to 4 individuals from the same household.

 1. Sod Homestead   Learn about pioneer life on the prairie in the late 1800s. Dress up as a sod homesteader, explore our replica sod village, and make corn husk dolls to take home with you.

2. Cheyenne Games   Explore how the children of the Cheyenne tribe played in the tipi camps, practice archery, and make your own Cheyenne game to take home with you.

3. Winter Ecology on the Prairie   Discover how different plants and animals survive the harsh prairie winters, explore an active prairie dog town, and make winter animal tracks to take home with you.

Audience: Families with children ages 5-12

Program Fee: $30 for up to 4 individuals from the same household.

Registration Instructions: Pre-registration is required. Program registration will not be available onsite.

Due to social distancing and group size restrictions you must register all members of your party. The following safety procedures and requirements are in place for attending onsite classes at the Plains Conservation Center during COVID-19: All adults and children ages 3 and older are required to wear a mask. Only individuals from the same household may register for this program. Maximum number of registrants per program is 4.
