Cafe Botanique: The Data Underpinning Biodiversity Research - ONLINE

As Scientific Data Manager within the Research Department, Rick Levys job at Denver Botanic Gardens is to think about scientific data around the clock. He works with researchers in the field and lab to find new and better ways to record information, organize and store the data, and disseminate it across the internet for the world to access. In this talk Rick will discuss how biodiversity and ecological data are relevant in everyday life, and the global effort to find ways to curate and use this information to address the most serious problems of the present and future.

Born, raised, and educated in Colorado, Rick knows how special our local flora, funga, and fauna are. Thats why he has made it his professional mission to provide world class documentation of our biodiversity and to make sure that Denver Botanic Gardens is a hot spot for data excellence and ingenuity.
