Nature in Paper – Cut Paper Sculpture Gardens

Paper is more than a substrate; it can be a beautiful, eye-catching media of its own. Discover possibilities in this versatile media that can create looks from bold graphic styles to lifelike effects that are mistaken for the real thing. Combine collage, cutting and sculpting techniques to take your art into the third dimension while exploring a new palette of textures and colors found in handmade papers from around the world. Create your own cut paper sculpture as we cover tips for layering, scoring, shaping forms, choosing papers and building supporting structures. We’ll finish with a discussion of care and presentation of the finished sculpture. Fee: $245 member, $295 non-member. No prerequisites.

Instructor: Tiffany Miller Russell


Tiffany Miller Russell is best known for her highly detailed, realistic and sometimes whimsical cut paper sculptures. She finds her inspiration in nature and the diversity of life, the individuality of a creature and its relationship to the world, and animals as cultural and artistic icons. Her paper sculptures have been exhibited locally and nationally in juried museum exhibitions where they have received numerous awards. She is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists.
