The Urban Garden

Saturday, September 20, 2014 - 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
York Street

The Urban “Garden”: A Class for those with no space to garden outside.

Can you still tend a garden with no “land” to garden on? Of course! More and more apartment, condo and patio home dwellers are learning the many benefits of tending to something botanical – and finding ways to overcome space and light challenges. What can I grow indoors? This class will discuss the art and science of houseplants, terrariums and dish gardens and which is appropriate and how to do it, as well as learning about the light you requirements. Pests, diseases and cultural care will be covered. The class will conclude with a demonstration of building a terrarium and dish garden and repotting and taking cuttings from a houseplant.

One lucky student will take home the terrarium made in class.

Instructor: Patti Oneal
