Dia de los Muertos Workshop: Making Sugar Skulls

Friday, October 17, 2014 - 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
York Street

Mexico possesses a rich and complex relationship with death that extends far beyond the Day of the Dead holiday (Dia de los Muertos) and its iconic sugar skulls. In this two-hour workshop you will receive an introduction to the customs of Dia de los Muertos and the symbolism of the sugar skull.

During the workshop you will be taken through the sugar skull making process step by step, and then create your very own skull art. Each attendee will be provided with two sugar skulls and the materials to make sugar skulls at home to adorn your own altars. This will be a fun and joyful event with traditional holiday snacks and music. We will provide all the materials for the class and a take-home recipe for you to re-create the tradition with your friends and family.

Instructor: Rita Wallace

$37 members, $42 non-members, includes $12 for materials
