In the early 1900s, German photographer Karl Blossfeldt developed a new style of photography and turned his attention to plants. Enlarged and sharply focused on texture and form, his beautiful black-and-white photos formed a bridge between nature and modern design. Learn to find the alphabet in plant forms, and then borrow the lighting and style from Blossfeldt to develop your own striking word design with a remarkably contemporary aesthetic. Fee: $230 member, $285 non-member. Prerequisites: Botanical Illustration in Pencil I, Botanical Illustration in Pencil II or Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration.
