APRIL 22 FREE DAY AT DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS

WHAT: Enjoy a springtime trip to the Gardens for free on Thursday, April 22, thanks to funding from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

In honor of Earth Day, the Gardens will provide information about water conservation and sustainability efforts. Gardens horticulturists will lead tours of low-water gardens at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (Space is limited, so arrive early to sign up.) Or you can strike out on your own and marvel at the stunning sculptures of the “Moore in the Gardens” exhibition as you stroll among tulips, daffodils and flowering trees.

Stop by the Boettcher Memorial Center to see a display of tropical foliage plants surrounding a Henry Moore sculpture in the Lobby Court, or visit the Gates Garden Court Gallery to see a juried exhibition of Rocky Mountain native plants – displayed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Gardens’ Botanical Art and Illustration program. Near the entrance to the Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory, you can enjoy a display of carnivorous plants from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Also check out family guides at our Information Desk; enjoy a scavenger hunt created just for kids; savor a delicious lunch in our new Offshoots at the Gardens café; or peruse the Shop at the Gardens, our new gift shop in the Bonfils-Stanton Visitor Center.

About Denver Botanic Gardens:
Green inside and out, the Gardens is considered one of the top botanical gardens in the United States and a pioneer in water conservation. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Gardens’ living collections encompass specimens from the tropics to the tundra, showcasing a plant palette chosen to thrive in Colorado’s semi-arid climate. The Gardens' dynamic, 23-acre urban oasis in the heart of the city is now in its 51st year, offering unforgettable opportunities to flourish with unique garden experiences for the whole family – as well as world-class education and plant conservation research programs. Additional sites at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, a 750-acre wildlife and native plant refuge in Jefferson County; and Mount Goliath, a high-altitude trail and interpretive site on the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, extend this experience throughout the Front Range.
