DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS PARTNERS WITH THE GARDEN CONSERVANCY TO BRING OPEN DAYS PROGRAM TO COLORADO
Five Private Gardens Open on June 9 and Aug. 18
DENVER – On Saturday, June, 9 and again on Saturday, Aug. 18, nine total gardens in the Denver METRO area will open to the public through The Garden Conservancy’s Open Days Program. The Open Days Program offers gardeners and garden lovers the opportunity to explore some of the finest private gardens in the nation. Each garden is distinct from the others and has been selected specifically because each embodies excellent design, showcases unique plants and garden ornamentation, and is expertly crafted by passionate gardeners.
Highlights of participating properties include: Japanese maples and other shade-loving plants; grand trellis and pergola structures; a children’s garden; birdbaths and feeders integrated into plantings; vegetable gardens; ponds connected by streams and waterfalls; Chinese sink and antique French bathtub repurposed as garden containers; multiple collections of varieties of iris, roses and other flowers, including perennials from multiple continents; a conservatory; 100-year-old cottonwoods; and, a miniature railroad meandering through one garden.
The hours for the tours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on each Saturday. Admission to each private garden is $5. Open Days are rain or shine, and no reservations are required. Call 1-888-842-2442, or visit www.opendaysprogram.org for more information. A portion of the proceeds from this Open Day will be shared with Denver Botanic Gardens, a Preservation Project of The Garden Conservancy.

The Open Days Program is America’s only national private garden-visiting program, and is made possible by the work of hundreds of volunteers nationwide.
