Many of our innovative gardens are models of drought-tolerance and showcase native and adapted plants that thrive in Western gardens. Throughout Denver Botanic Gardens, the time honored traditions of European horticulture merge with a dynamic diversity of plants and design that represent the best in horticultural achievement.

Denver Botanic Gardens has opened the city's first publicly accessible green roof, on top of the Gardens' Gift Shop. The green roof is the first of its kind on a city-owned building in Denver, and is a highly visible demonstration of the many benefits of green roofs for communities and for building owners.

BUS ROUTES
If you are coming from downtown, take the Route 10 bus east to 12th and York. Walk 1-1/2 blocks south to our entrance at 1005 York Street. Click here for more detailed RTD bus information or to plan your visit via bus route from other locations.

* On rare occasions during the summer, Denver Botanic Gardens at York Street may close earlier than 8 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday to host a Gardens special event. Please check our home page "important update" for time/date changes.

Denver Botanic Gardens is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Administrative offices are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS ADMISSION

Members receive free admission tothe Gardens and to the "Urban Nature" exhibit (excluding separately ticketed special events), plus many other benefits.

Admission through Nov. 30, 2008--includes our special exhibit "Urban Nature"

  • $10.50 for adults
  • $7.50 for seniors 65+
  • $7.50 for visitors with a military ID
  • $6.00 for youth 4-15
  • $6.00 for students with ID
  • Free for children 3 and under


ACCESSIBILITY

Most of our indoor and outdoor gardens and facilities, including restrooms and classrooms, are wheelchair accessible. There are some areas in the gardens that are not wheelchair accessible without assistance. Please check with the Gate House or the Information Desk in the lobby if you need clarification on accessible routes.

  • Handicapped parking is located in the Gardens’ parking lot across the street from the Main Gate. Handicapped parking is available in the Morrison Center parking lot accessed off of 11th Ave. between York St. and Josephine St.
  • Wheelchairs are available for loan at no charge at the Information Desk in the lobby. A driver's license or identification card is retained to ensure return.

Denver Botanic Gardens is a non-smoking facility by city ordinance.

A shift in seasons is bringing significant change to Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield:

  • A new amphitheatre is being
    re-graded to provide a better experience for concert-goers with new grass, a wildflower meadow and shade trees. Construction on a permanent stage begins soon and will be completed in time for the 2009 concert season.

Deer Creek Discovery children’s area at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield

  • And check out our new Deer Creek Discovery children’s area, which includes a whimsical tree house and a water feature in which children can play! This area is scheduled for completion next month.
