The OmniGlobe® is a large spherical display depicting a wide variety of world maps and data.  The world’s ecosystems, plants, weather, climate and much more are just a touch away. Schools can explore the OmniGlobe® on their own or do an in-depth exploration into climate change, plant adaptations or ecosystems with a Discovery Backpack or Guided Exploration.

Reservations:
To schedule an OmniGlobe® program, call 720-865-3580. Scheduling begins on Aug. 15 (or the following Monday if Aug. 15 falls on a weekend) for the entire school year. Shortly after you make your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email with activities and materials to help prepare your students for the program. Please make sure to read our general visit information before your field trip.

Discovery Backpacks

Cost: $2.50 per student for schools within the SCFD, $4.50 per student for schools outside the SCFD. One adult chaperone (parent or teacher) for every five students is admitted free of charge. Extra adults must pay $6.50 each, no exceptions.

• Grasslands and Rainforests (Grades K-3)
  Explore how and why plants are different in these two ecosystems.
• Journey through Colorado (Grades 3-6)
  Visit Colorado ecosystems and discover how and why they are different.
• Plant Adaptations (Grades 5-8)
  Identify three mystery plants and explore tropical and desert plant adaptations.
• Trees of the World (Grades 4-8)
  Identify a variety of trees and discover the world-wide distribution of trees.
• Grasslands and Steppe (Grades 9-12)
  Discover the global distribution of grassland and steppe ecosystems.

Guided Explorations

• Introduction to Climate Change (Grades 4-8)
  Explore the difference between climate and weather and learn how scientists utilize plants to better understand Colorado’s historical climate. (Indoors and Outdoors)
  When:  10-11 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on selected days in October, November, January, February and March.
  Class Size:  Maximum 30 students
