Class - Lifelong Learning| Adults
Saturday, March 16, 2013 - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Most gardens include a rose bush or two or twenty! Congress designated the rose as America’s national floral emblem in 1986. The popularity of growing roses began thousands of years ago and continues today. The rose growing series offered by American Rose Society Consulting Rosarians and experts from the Denver Rose Society will cover how to grow healthy, easy care and beautiful roses for years to come. The series covers secrets to successful rose growing, no pain pruning, amorous David Austin roses, disease and pest control (using Integrated Pest Management) and winter care. Choose one class or take them all and come away with confident rose growing skills and greater appreciation for the “Queen of Flowers.”

Shrub roses, also known as landscape roses are splendid choices in landscapes for their trouble-free care, winter hardiness, striking colors, and repeat bloom. Many are fragrant! Their versatility in the garden for use in borders, as hedges, groundcovers or background plantings makes them a perfect addition for Colorado gardens. We’ll cover many roses for you to choose from, along with planting and caring tips that will keep your shrubs the blooming stars they will become.
