  • Horticulture and Research Volunteer

    Horticulture Maintenance Volunteers:

    Help keep the Gardens beautiful! Our York Street horticulture team is looking for volunteers to assist with garden maintenance; performing tasks such as weeding, mulching, planting and watering.  Volunteering with our horticulturalists is a great way to meet new people and improve your knowledge of plants, while providing an invaluable service to the community.
    Qualifications Needed:
    Volunteers must have a good range of physical mobility--being comfortable with both standing and bending over for extended periods of time.  Volunteers must also be comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions (many gardens are in full sun).  Volunteers must be flexible and willing to help his or her assigned horticulturalists with changing duties and priorities.
    Time Commitment:
    Horticulture maintenance volunteers must be able to make a weekly commitment for the duration of the growing season (April through October, depending on weather) and attend a mandatory training on March 19.

       2. Once your application is received, you will be contacted to schedule an initial interview with a placement coordinator.

    We currently have a waiting list to volunteer with our Research department. To be placed on the waiting list, please email the Volunteer Services Department at vol@botanicgardens.org.
