affiliate organizations

Once you are a volunteer at Denver Botanic Gardens, you have the opportunity to join two affiliate volunteer organizations that have supported the Gardens for over 40 years. Each group contributes to the Gardens financially and through volunteer work.

The Associates of Denver Botanic Gardens

The Associates provides support for the programs and operations of the Gardens. Currently their area of focus is enhancement of the adult tour guide program.

The Associates hold quarterly educational and social events for all volunteers which include programs presented by the staff of the Gardens. These activities provide opportunities for volunteers to learn more about horticulture, the Gardens and each other. Associates Information Line: 720-865-3660.

Membership to the Associates entitles you to discounts for these events. Requirements:

  • Become a volunteer at the Gardens
  • $15 in annual dues

Denver Botanic Gardens Guild gourmet holiday saleDenver Botanic Gardens Guild
Guild members take an active role in helping to maintain the herb garden. Working closely with the staff at the Gardens, the Guild is responsible for cleaning out the Herb Garden in the spring, selecting herb plants for the Plant Sale in May and helping to maintain the Herb Garden throughout the summer.

This is considered a “working guild” and it asks its members to commit to:

  • Working at least 40 hours per year
  • Maintaining a general membership at Denver Botanic Gardens
  • $25 in annual dues

The Guild’s efforts have also spread to the Cutting Garden, where Guild members cut and dry flowers, blossoms, grasses and pods to put in to arrangements and sell at the Holiday Sale. In the fall the Guild makes herb vinegars and gourmet herb blends for the Holiday Sale. For over 45 years Denver Botanic Gardens Guild has maintained an important role educating the public about herbs and continued fundraising efforts for projects throughout the Gardens.
