helen fowler garden plant book and resource library in Denver The Helen Fowler Library at Denver Botanic Gardens houses one of the premier collections of plant-related resources in the United States. Topics covered in the collection include botany, horticulture, gardens and gardening, landscaping, agriculture, world flora, botanical art and illustration, flower arrangement, medical botany, ethnobotany, insects, plant pests and diseases, plant lore, nature crafts and more. Gardens members may check out books, DVDs, videos and software.

Current and retrospective periodicals
Nursery catalogs
Slides
Pamphlet files
Waring collection of rare books
Botanical illustrations, art and stamps
Rare glass/stereoscopic slides and other rarities such as suisekis (Japanese art rocks).

A variety of digital resources are available for extensive research including the Gardens' own Plantfinder database, the AGRICOLA database, the EBSCO Garden Literature database, the Anderson Horticultural Library database and others.

We have answers to your gardening questions! Colorado Master Gardeners are available to answer questions every Tuesday, Saturday and Free Day from March 1 to Sept. 30 from noon to 4 p.m. (In May and June, the program is also staffed on Thursdays).

It's a fact: The alligator drum and giant amadinda are musical instruments made from plants.

Botanical interest: Children are encouraged to interact with plants, including smelling fragrant chives (Allium schoenoprasum), touching lamb’s ear (Stachys byzantina) and soft artemisia (Artemisia schmidtiana ‘Silver Mound’).
