fête des fleurs
Nearly 450 guests gathered at the Gardens on Friday, August 26, 2011 to celebrate the native beauty of the Gardens. This year’s Fête was designed to compliment Native Roots | Modern Form: Plants, Peoples and the Art of Allan Houser. In keeping with the theme, signature cocktails, food, music and décor reflected the southwest and provided unique offerings for guests to enjoy.

The evening started with cocktails in the Romantic Garden, including the "Summer Solstice" - vodka with black-tea infused honey, fresh grapefruit juice topped with a candied prickly pear. Dinner, featuring buffalo short rib barbacoa and wine provided by Silver Oak, was set under the twinkling lights of the tent on the UMB Bank Amphitheater while Jon Romero, Native American flutist, delighted attendees with his lovely music. Following dinner, guests danced to the live music of Soul X and enjoyed drinks in the Starlight Lounge.
