The 2009 lecture series examines the historical attraction of wilderness, and its powerful effect on the human psyche and creative expression--from art and literature to landscape design.

- Thursday, May 28, 7-9 p.m.: Rock and Water: Nature's Elements in Japanese Garden Design, with Sadafumi Uchiyama, Garden Curator, Portland Japanese Garden; project designer, Shofu-En Japanese Garden renovation at Denver Botanic Gardens
- Thursday, Aug. 20, 7-9 p.m.: Meadows by Design, with John Greenlee, horticulturist, landscape designer and meadow specialist
- Thursday, Oct. 15, 7-9 p.m.: 'Wilderness as Muse': Selected Readings, with Terry Tempest Williams, conservationist, advocate for free speech, and author of Refuge
