I would like to enter a birdhouse, where can I get an entry form?
You can download an entry form by clicking here. Entry forms are due by June 9. All birdhouses MUST be hand-delivered to Denver Botanic Gardens on June 15 and 16 anytime between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. - no exceptions please.
Are there going to be birdhouses displayed before the event?
Yes, July 1-8 a select number of birdhouses will be displayed at Denver Botanic Gardens.
What are the award categories for Birdhaus Bash?
The categories are: Best in Show, Amazing American Birdhaus, Interesting International Birdhaus, Most Elegant Birdhaus, Ultra Urban Natured Birdhaus, Coolest Celebrity Birdhaus, and Most Unique Birdhaus. Anyone can enter a birdhouse…you could be a winner!
How does the silent auction work?
Bidding for the silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. and will conclude promptly at 7 p.m. Each birdhouse will have a bid sheet. If you are interested in bidding for a birdhouse, you can write down your bid number, your name and the amount you would like to bid. Bid amounts must be in the increments stated on the bid sheets. The placing of a bid constitutes a legal contract, and all sales are final and nonadjustable. The winner of each item will be the person with the highest bid when the bidding closes. In the event that there is more than one active bidder present at the time the bidding closes, each party may submit a final bid. The highest secret bid, as determined by the auction official, is the successful bidder. Winning bids will be posted with the corresponding birdhouses at each silent auction table.
How does the live auction work?
The live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. There will be approximately 12 birdhouses up for auction. The auctioneer will introduce each birdhouse and start an opening bid. If you would like to bid on a particular birdhouse, you can raise your hand or hold up your bidding fan to place a bid. The winner of each item will be the person with the highest bid.
How do I pay for my birdhouse?
Auction check-out will begin at 7 p.m. Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or American Express will be accepted as payment. There will be a 7.72% sales tax on all items sold. All birdhouses must be taken by the end of the evening. If you are unable to take your house, you will need to make arrangements prior to leaving the event. All birdhouses not picked up by July 30 will revert to the property of Denver Botanic Gardens unless arrangements have been made otherwise.
What children’s activities will there be?
There will be a children’s tent operated by the Gardens’ Education Department with several fun and educational activities for kids. HawkQuest will be on-site with live birds of prey.
What types of food are offered?
A wide variety of restaurants graciously provides food for this event. Vegetarian items will be available. Please check the Web site closer to event date for more details on food.
Can I purchase tickets at the door?
Yes, you can purchase tickets the evening of the event. However, we encourage you to purchase tickets before the event. Tickets may be purchased at Denver Botanic Gardens Main Gatehouse during regular business hours or online beginning June 2. ALL TICKETS ARE WILL CALL!
Since this is an outdoor event, what happens if there is inclement weather?
The event will not be cancelled. It will take place rain or shine. The birdhouses, auctions, entertainment, food and beverages will all be under tents.
