Portraits of Heirloom Plants
July 8 - Aug. 31 The Gardens' Botanical Illustration program exhibits careful renderings of perennial flowers and vegetables from the class of heirloom plants. These plants, many no longer used in modern agriculture and horticulture, are enjoying a renewed popularity. Many gardeners grow them for their historical interest, others to preserve the plant for future generations.
Student Art Show: Highlights of the Botanical
Illustration Program:
Sept. 6 - Nov. 2 Students of the Gardens' certificate program display their best work exploring botanical art and illustration. Many of the paintings will be for sale (proceeds benefit the Botanical Art and Illustration program).
Observing Orchids
Sept. 6 - Nov. 30 The Gardens' Botanical Illustration program exhibits artful renderings of tropical orchids. This exhibition will be complemented by rare books and prints, as well as herbarium sheets of preserved orchids. A living display of orchids will be on view in the Gardens' Lobby Court.
