Rose Pruning Made Easy

Class - Lifelong Learning| Adults
Saturday, April 13, 2013 - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Most gardens include a rose bush or two or twenty! Congress designated the rose as America’s national floral emblem in 1986. The popularity of growing roses began thousands of years ago and continues today. The rose growing series offered by American Rose Society Consulting Rosarians and experts from the Denver Rose Society will cover how to grow healthy, easy care and beautiful roses for years to come. The series covers secrets to successful rose growing, no pain pruning, amorous David Austin roses, disease and pest control (using Integrated Pest Management) and winter care. Choose one class or take them all and come away with confident rose growing skills and greater appreciation for the “Queen of Flowers.”

Rose pruning is actually easier in Colorado than it is in other parts of the U.S. Let Dave Ingram, Consulting Rosarian for the American Rose Society, change pruning from mystery to practicality. You’ll learn the when, how and why of pruning (Yes! We’ll cover climbers!) Good pruning helps you grow great roses. It’s not hard, and we’ll show you how pruning fits into the spectrum of successful year-long rose care.
