Chipotle Sustainable Food Film Series

The 2014 Chipotle Sustainable Food Film Series includes four films relating to sustainable food practices, organic farming and community agriculture. Each evening includes food provided by Chipotle, a screening of the film and a post-film panel discussion. The films take place between September and November 2014 at Denver Botanic Gardens at York Street.

Admission to all films is $5 per person and films will be shown in Mitchell Hall.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for serving of food and the film starts at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, September 11: “A Place at the Table”
Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine the issue of hunger in America through the lens of three people struggling with food insecurity: Barbie, a single Philadelphia mother who grew up in poverty and is trying to provide a better life for her two kids; Rosie, a Colorado fifth-grader who often has to depend on friends and neighbors to feed her and has trouble concentrating in school; and Tremonica, a Mississippi second-grader whose asthma and health issues are exacerbated by the largely empty calories her hardworking mother can afford.

Tuesday, September 23: “GMO OMG”
Director Jeremy Seifert is in search of answers. How do GMOs affect our children, the health of our planet and our freedom of choice? And perhaps the ultimate question, which Seifert tests: is it even possible to reject the food system currently in place, or have we lost something we can’t get back? These and other questions take Seifert on a journey.  Along the way we gain insight into a question that is of growing concern to citizens the world over: What’s on your plate?

Wednesday, October 15: “Food Patriots”
Touched by their teenage son’s battle with a foodborne superbug, filmmakers Jeff & Jennifer Spitz document their family’s struggle to raise backyard chickens, grow food and transform into food patriots. “Food Patriots” features people from all walks of life who are trying to change the way Americans eat and buy food, and educate the next generation of consumers.

Friday, November 7: “Fed Up”
Everything we’ve been told about food and exercise for the past 30 years is dead wrong. “Fed Up” is the film the food industry doesn’t want you to see. From Katie Couric, Laurie David (Oscar-winning producer of “An Inconvenient Truth”) and director Stephanie Soechtig, “Fed Up” will change the way you eat forever.
