There are some fantastic bulbs blooming right now! The Gardens is emerging with color and the first few days of spring are really feeling, well, a lot like spring! Plus, there are a bunch of delightful bulbs that can be ordered through the Fall Bulb Pre-Order Sale.
What is the Fall Bulb Pre-Order Sale?
The Fall Bulb Pre-Order Sale is a collection of spring flowering bulbs that can be pre-orderd to be picked up at the Fall Plant & Bulb Sale on Friday, Sept 21 and Saturday, Sept 22.
Tulipa humilis 'Persian Pearl' is one of the bulbs that is featured on our Fall Bulb Pre-Order Sale. It is a delightful species tulip with amazing brilliant color and contrasting yellow centers. It is deer resistant, great for containers, a prolific naturalizer and is known for its ability to bloom for a long period.
I am guilty of planting a ton of this tulip in one of the new gardens at Denver Botanic Gardens. Can you guess which one?
Scilla siberica (Siberian Squill) is another bulb that is featured on our Fall Bulb Pre-Order Sale. It is a delightful spring bulb with a true blue color. It is an amazing naturalizer; this picture illustrates how fast one bulb can naturalize in a three year period. It can be planted in full sun, part shade or underneath a decidous tree. As an added bonus, the squirrels and geese stay away from this one!
This bulb is planted in three different spots at Denver Botanic Gardens. Can you guess their locations?
Three great ways to buy these and many other bulbs!
- At Denver Botanic Gardens in the Shop at the Gardens giftshop, or order with one of our horticulturists at the Spring Plant Sale on May 11 and 12.
- Go to the Fall Plant & Bulb Sale on Friday, Sept 21 and Saturday, Sept 22.
