Late to the party (Chihuahuan uplands cacti)

Most hardy cacti bloom in spring. Pediocactus simpsonii for instance (our wonderful mountain ball cactus) can open its first flowers in my garden in March. April and May see the peak bloom on various Echinocereus and suchlike. By mid June most cacti are done and seed is ripening. I grant you the cane chollas (Cylindropuntia) often wait till the 4th of July to bloom...

Glade Mallow (Napaea dioica)

Glade Mallow (Napaea dioica) I grant you the flowers are not gigantic--an inch across if you're generous. But they are produced in profusion for a long season (that's good isn't it?) and the plant itself is restrained...if rather large: here's the same clump that's blooming now the way it looked a month ago:
